中國廣播公司是中國廣播事業的先驅，民國十七年成立於南京丁家橋，當時稱為「中央廣播電台」，後來又改名為「中央廣播事業管理處」。民國三十六年，再改組為「中國廣播股份有限公司」，簡稱「中廣」（ＢＣＣ）。
民國三十八年中廣隨政府播遷來台，繼續擔負文化傳播的使命，並逐步邁向企業化的經營，成為台灣地區廣播界最具代表性的廣播公司。民國三十八年六月，中廣完成二十千瓦短波機的裝設以「自由中國之聲」名義，開始對海外播音，奠定了海外廣播的基礎。五十七年七月三十一日，中廣成立第一座調頻電台，將國內廣播帶入調頻立體身歷聲的新紀元；六十二年，中廣總部從台北新公園遷至仁愛路；六十八年成立「亞洲之聲」，對亞洲地區播音；七十六年元旦，首先推出調幅立體廣播節目；八十三年八月，中廣音樂網開始啟用數位化電腦播出系統，八十七年起，中廣各頻道節目陸續兼以衛星與微波傳輸至全省各地，並率先研發國內數位廣播革新方案，在在為中國廣播史寫下新頁。八十九年元月，中廣總公司由仁愛路搬遷至松江路現址，邁入千禧年的另一個里程碑。
在節目方面，中廣實施專業分網制度，設計不同類型的節目，以「區隔聽眾」，為不同屬性和需要的聽眾，提供最完善的服務。中廣的廣播節目，共分為四個全國性的廣播網，調頻部分為流行網；調幅部份則為新聞網、鄉親網及igo 531網。中廣於民國五十四年至八十六年之間接受政府委託，辦理「自由中國之聲」與「亞洲之聲」的海外廣播業務，這項業務雖然自民國八十七年起已經轉移「財團法人中央廣播電台」執行，但中廣從未放棄作為一個國際性的廣播公司，除了透過全球資訊網路，以語音下載（REAL AUDIO）方式，將新聞網及流行網節目同步向全球播送邁向全球廣播網的宏偉藍圖。
除此之外因應智慧型手機深入每個人的生活，於2012年，開發「中廣新聞爆」手機APP，讓中廣新聞網透過手機，隨時將最新最快的新聞，傳送給每個閱聽大眾，四年後（2016年），開發「中廣線上聽」手機APP，讓聽眾從手機裡收聽中廣流行網、iradio 音樂網、鄉親網、igo 531等頻道。
在加強文化及社會服務方面，中廣每年均不定期舉辦多項聽友聯歡及慈善公益活動，並從2009年開始，每年12月聖誕節前夕，都定期舉辦為期兩週的「擁抱希望傳出愛」募款活動，將全數款項捐贈給弱勢團體。
The Broadcasting Corporation of China (BCC,) the pioneer of the Republic of China's broadcasting industry, was founded in Nanking in 1928 as the Central Broadcasting System and reorganized under its present name in 1947. In 1949, BCC moved to Taiwan with the government of the Republic of China (ROC).
Since it moved to Taiwan in 1949, BCC has not only kept its mission for cultural communication, but also become a commercial corporation gradually. In 1949, BCC also established a foothold in international radio with its broadcast of the Voice of Free China over short wave channels. Leading the way for Taiwan's radio industry, BCC set up the island's first FM station in 1968. The BCC headquarters were moved from Taipei New Park to Jen-ai Road in 1973. The Voice of Asia was launched in 1979 to offer service to people in Asia. BCC was the first to broadcast in stereo over AM channels in 1987. In 1994, BCC's Music Network employed the most advanced computerized broadcasting system in all of Asia. In 1997 BCC's international short-wave program was handed over to the state-funded Central Broadcasting System. Since 1998, all BCC programs have been broadcast island-wide via satellite and microwave transmission. In addition to the radio on line broadcast through BCC website, BCC also broadcasts live via satellite to several Chinese community radio stations in North America. Some BCC’s News and Pop programs are also available for the listeners of the southeast coastal area of Mainland China, Auckland and some major cities of North America.
The BCC headquarters were moved to its present location on Song Jiang Road in Taipei in January 2000, and at the same year, BCC established the first digital audio broadcasting (DAB) experimental radio station in Taiwan. From 2001, BCC accomplished the DAB Single Frequency Network (SFN) coverage in the western and northeastern coastal area of Taiwan.
From the year 2005, the BCC "family" of stations is divided into 4 island-wide networks. The FM network is the Pop Network（i like radio.）The 3 AM networks are the News Network, Country Network and i go 531.
In addition, due to the penetration of the wireless network and the mobile devices in everyday life, we developed the app called “BCC news pushing” in 2012, and in 2016, we developed the app “BCC on-line”, for the audience who would like to listen to our programs everytime, everywhere.
In terms of strengthening cultural and social responsibilities, BCC has annually held a number of listeners’ rallies and charity events. Since 2009, BCC has taken place for the charity event called “embrace hope and spread love”, to donate the money to many charity groups.
